The Abyss
As I stare into The Abyss I feel no remorse,
I feel no guilt,
I feel no shame,
I feel nothing,
As I stare into the Abyss I feel no sorrow.
The sorrow of life is left behind,
The pain,
The tears,
The emptiness,
The Abyss has removed it all.
The blackness escapes in one last breath,
No aching heart,
No empty words,
No empty life,
The Abyss promises nothing and delivers just that.
The crimson stream flows from my soul,
A life left behind,
Nothing ahead,
Washed clean of failure,
The Abyss demands nothing of me, for I have nothing.
There is no light, no hallowed song,
No flowing robes,
No trumpets sound,
No winged beings,
The Abyss is silent, dark, and still.
My feet are firm, my will un-quivering,
The chill of earth,
The smell of dirt,
The sound of nothingness,
The Abyss welcomes all without judgement.
The lies we’re told of judgement and doom,
No heaven,
No hell,
No divine karma,
No trophy of gold,
The Abyss is the equalizer of all who come.
I long for it’s peace, it’s quite, It’s nothingness.
I fear not it’s cold un-judgmental hand.
I lay my head down, upon it’s inviting sand.
It swallows me up, and spits out my pain.
The Abyss has welcomed me home,
and I ...
Return from whence I came, The Abyss.
